Izamal is an amazing city. The building are all painted yellow, horse-drawn carriages are the mode of transportation and it is steeped in Mayan and Colonial history.
We recommend you take a horse and carriage and tour the local artisans where you will find amazing hand-made jewelry, art work, soaps, hammocks and more. Visit the local museum right in the main square and by all means you have to tour the convent.
